Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This privacy policy describes how the My Shopping List app
(available on Google Play and the App Store, publisher: jiHello, Android package
jiHello.ShoppingList) collects, uses and protects user data,
in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data we collect
Depending on how you use the app, the following data may be collected:
- Account and sign-in: if you choose to sign in with your Google account (via Firebase Authentication), we receive the account identifier, email address, and public name associated with that account, in order to sync your lists across devices. Using the app without signing in (offline mode) does not require any of this data.
- List content: the names of your lists and the items you add to them are stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, on Firebase servers (Google) to enable synchronization and sharing across devices.
- Voice recognition: if you use the voice input feature to add items, audio is processed by your device's operating system speech recognition service to be converted into text. The app itself does not record or retain any audio.
- Technical and crash data: we use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect anonymized usage statistics and crash reports, in order to improve the app's stability and quality.
- Advertising: the app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use advertising identifiers and other technical data to display ads, including personalized ads based on your consent (see section 4).
2. Purposes of processing
- Providing the app's core features (creating and sharing shopping lists);
- Syncing your data across your devices when you are signed in;
- Improving app stability (crash diagnostics) and understanding overall usage (anonymized statistics);
- Displaying ads that help fund development and keep the app free to use.
3. Data sharing
Data is hosted and, where applicable, processed by our technical providers, notably
Google Firebase (authentication, database, analytics, crashlytics, notifications)
and Google AdMob (advertising). These providers may process data outside the
European Union; Google adheres to data transfer frameworks recognized by the European Commission.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Advertising consent (GDPR)
On your first use of the app within the European Economic Area, a consent form (via the Google
User Messaging Platform) lets you choose whether or not to accept personalized ads. You can
change this choice at any time from the "GDPR" menu in the app.
5. Data retention
The content of your lists is kept for as long as your account remains active. You can delete
your lists at any time from within the app. Deleting your account results in the deletion of
associated data stored on our servers within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is
required by law.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access and rectification;
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten");
- Right to data portability;
- Right to object and to restrict processing;
- Right to withdraw your consent at any time (notably for personalized advertising).
To exercise these rights, you can contact us directly at the address below, or delete your
account and your lists directly from within the app.
7. App permissions
- Internet / network state: required for cloud sync and displaying ads.
- Microphone: used only when you voluntarily activate the voice input feature.
8. Children
The app is not specifically directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect
personal data from this audience.
9. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated periodically, notably as the app or applicable regulations
evolve. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
